Crystal & Kareem

We're Getting Married!

Kareem Sakur

&

Crystal Arellano

October 3, 2025

How we met:

-2015-

We met in 2015 in high school - I was sophomore & he was a junior. And for those of you who don't already know- we were marching band nerds as I like to say. Kareem played the tuba & I played the flute. The crazy part is that we had actually already been near each other for some time & even went on a trip to Florida to Disney for marching band before we ever actually crossed paths . Fast forward to the marching band hallway which is where we met. It started as simple small talk and quickly formed a friendship. Over that period of time we really got to know each other , shared lots of laughs and later on got to share some classes together. In Feb of 2016 we both attended our annual band banquet where he asked me to prom. We had a lovely prom and shortly after we started dating June 3rd 2016 & the rest is history. And 10 years later here we are <3

Our Engagement:

-2023-

My mom & sisters were already in on the entire thing - he had asked my mom & showed them all the ring once he had it picked out all on his own. It was October 3rd of 2023- it was no special occasion. It was just planned as a dinner date with a gorgeous view of the city. Unbeknownst to me - he had actually picked the 3rd so that it matched the same day we started dating (June 3rd). When we arrived we overlooked the view before walking to the side of this beautiful restaurant. I was confused as we had passed right by the main entrance- I assumed he was confused and asked him if he was sure we were supposed to enter this way. Right before walking to the courtyard he had me put on an eye mask & told me he had a very special surprise. I waited for a few nervous moments before he told me to take it off. And there he was, at the very end of an aisle filled with red rose petals on the ground, candles & a large heart shaped rose arrangement with the sign "Will you marry me?". I was stunned. I walked down the aisle to meet him, he said his little speech professing his love. Don't ask me to recite exactly what he said because I sort of blacked out in excitement and was nodding my head staring at him with googly eyes LOL. I remember him being so nervous I thought he was going to pass out. He got on his knee and pulled out the most gorgeous ring. It was a resounding yes! We spent the next few hours outside in the beautiful weather taking it all in & calling friends and family in excitement. We didn't want the day to end - we literally stood there until it was dark and the lit up "Will you marry me sign" went out LOL. It was the most perfect engagement I could have ever asked for. He did beyond what I could have ever imagined. I was officially a FIANCEEE!!
