Emma and Kevin met when they were both teachers at Yearling Middle in Okeechobee, Florida. Emma taught English while Kevin taught Civics. Their classrooms were right next to each other and they even shared some of the same students! Kevin asked Emma on their first date by texting her “sunrise beach run tomorrow?” Emma fully thought this meant the two would be running on the beach. Kevin meant that the two would have a casual, quick trip to see the sunrise and then maybe grab coffee or breakfast afterwards. Emma showed up in workout clothes and tennis shoes asking “so how serious is this run?” Kevin, being confused, just smiled. Emma soon realized that there would be no running once the two sat down in the sand to watch the sunrise and felt an immense amount of relief. The two hit it off, bonding over similar tastes in music and their fascination with the clouds in the sky. About 2 years later, Kevin proposed on the same beach at sunrise and Emma said yes without hesitation. Sun rise will always be their thing.
