Jackie and Daniel met during their senior year of college at Vanderbilt University when they were placed on the same service trip to Little Rock, Arkansas. It only took one day for Jackie to decide she would spend forever with Daniel. It took Daniel the week-long service trip to catch up.

On January 15, 2017, Daniel asked Jackie if she wanted to be "together together," and the rest was history.

On December 21, 2019, Daniel asked Jackie to marry him on the ice at the Millennium Park Ice Rink in downtown Chicago. Family and friends came in from as far as New York and California to be in on the surprise.
