Matt and I went to the same high school, and sort of knew each other but we ran in different circles. We used to party together with mutual friends in college but never really got to know each other. When we both turned 21, we started working at the same bar, Kildares. He was in the back in the kitchen, and I was out front tending tables and the bar. We would chat sometimes, but we were just friends. One day Matt decided he wanted to be a bartender too..and I jumped at the opportunity to teach him. After two weeks of showing him the ropes and really getting to know his personality; I developed a crush. He took me on our first date to Olive Garden, I still remember the flowery dress I wore, and we spent 2 hours just talking. I knew then that I had found my perfect match. Two weeks later, Matt got a live-in girlfriend and a dog. Six years later we are happier than ever together, and ready to start our lives as a married couple. I will always treasure the moment he took me on our first date, said I love you, became Bailey's dad, but I am most excited to be his wife.
This lovely man made me wait almost 6 years for a ring but it was WELL worth it! I was sitting at home in my pijamas on valentines day waiting for him to come home from work; and he gave me a bag of candy and a beautiful card like always. I had already receieved a beautiful bouqet of roses sent to work that day- so I thought my day was over. Then I see Matt over by the coat closet and before I knew it he was down on one knee infront of me with a sparkly ring just like how I dreamed it would be as a kid. Then I asked him “Did you ask my dad first?” And said YES faster than anything I had ever done in life. This was so special to me not only because it was at home with our Bailey, but also because he completely caught me off guard. If you know me, you know this is very diffucult since I am such a planner. Valentines day will never be the same ❤️
