Alexandra met Jacob when she was doing a summer research externship between her 1st and 2nd year of medical school. She was rotating through his department to see the various surgeries in the office's vascular interventional suite. Between cases, they started chatting and hit it off.

It was in the middle of what was known thereafter as: Snowvid… They had spent the week in a house with no running water and no electricity; the snow and ice stacking up outside. They both knew that if they could survive that, then they could survive anything (as long as it was together). Jacob drew her outside to surprise her while the neighborhood was quiet, and the snow was softly falling to propose. The rest is still being written.
