Burns Alley is basically real life Cheers, and that dive bar tucked behind a kinda gross Mexican restaurant is where I met Sean. While I don't remember exactly what we talked about that night, I do remember a lot of laughing and easy conversation. We ran into each other more over the next few weeks, found some very specific mutual interests, and he slowly taught me that prairie fire shots after a few too many beers are never a good idea. I impressed him by catching a 90s rap reference, he reciprocated my love for cheesy horror films, and next thing I knew we were planning a pseudo-date for improv and pizza. And I guess it was history after that! Our relationship started out as friends at the bar, turned into kindred souls grabbing drinks, and has kept evolving into where we are now. Which is very excited to share a day of celebration with the friends and family who have supported and loved us along the way! Of course, with drinks in hand. We did meet at a bar, after all.
It's a terrible cliche to say you met at a bar, but... we met at a bar. It was "our" bar, a place you could find me more often than not. It was a place that was always full of regulars, and most nights we would know everyone there, but one night Sarah walked in. She was not a regular (yet), but as soon as I saw her I knew I had to talk to her. I convinced some mutual friends to introduce us, and spent the next few weeks dropping (no-so-subtle) hints like, "Hey, you should call that Sarah girl, she was pretty cool," trying to get them to invite her out with us, all in the hopes of getting to spend more time with her. One night I finally got the courage to ask her out, and I was incredibly lucky she said yes and took a chance on me. Here we are 9 years, 2 houses, 2 dogs, and a lot of memories later, incredibly excited to take the next step, and even more excited that all of you will be there to celebrate with us!
