Emma and Peter met in 2013 on the cross country team at East Catholic High School. From the beginning, Peter thought Emma was the coolest, kindest, most fun girl he had ever met but he didn’t pluck up the courage to ask her on a date until… ever. Emma would be the one to ask him to a Sadie Hawkins dance in 2016. Not long after, Peter asked Emma to junior prom while on a run, they went on their first date, and Emma persuaded Peter to switch from tennis to outdoor track in the spring (a tough sell that only Emma could have made). Emma and Peter kept running in college, Emma on the Bucknell track team and Peter on the UConn club team, and visited each other when they could. When the pandemic hit in 2020, the silver lining for Emma and Peter was that moving back home to Connecticut from college meant they would be living only twenty minutes apart for the first time in 3 years. What better way to enjoy this newfound time and proximity during a pandemic than going on runs together? Emma began a PhD program in Chemical Biology at Harvard in the fall of 2020, and a year later Peter followed Emma to Boston to start a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University. There, they began the rest of their lives together with love, fun, friends, and a lot of UConn basketball. In February 2024, Peter proposed to Emma while on a trail run in Zion National Park. They are so excited to celebrate their wedding with friends and family!
