Travel Tips Given the uncertain nature of travel these days, we HIGHLY recommend travel insurance for your flights and hotels. If you are joining us from outside the UK, we recommend flying into Newcastle (closest to the venue), London or Edinburgh airports. For those who are planning to make this a vacation as well, we suggest using multiple airports when you book your trip. For example, you could arrive in London and do some sight-seeing as you work your way up to Newcastle or Edinburgh and fly out from there. This way you don't have to back-track.

We recommend flying into either Newcastle Airport (closest to venue), London or Edinburgh. For those flying into Newcastle via Dublin, note that there is a US customs in Dublin Airport, which might save you time on your journey home. Skyscanner.com is a great place to start looking for and comparing flights. We use this site to find ideas and then book on the airline website. Be careful if you decide to use a third-party discount website.

Train

LNER

If you fly into London, the train to Durham or Newcastle usually takes 3-4 hours. A train from Edinburgh usually takes 1.5-2 hours. If you are planning to stay and sight-see, we recommend flying into one airport and flying out of another so you don't have to back-track. For example, you could fly into London and work your way up to County Durham, then fly out of Newcastle or Edinburgh.
