In July of 2017, Ryan & Morgan both attended a mutual friends housewarming party. The two hit it off while on opposing teams during some backyard games. They spent the night talking to one another, which mainly consisted of Ryan trying to impress Morgan with all of his running stories. Unbeknownst to Morgan, those stories were all quite dated, and Ryan’s running career was well in his past. Lucky for Ryan, it worked, as they exchanged numbers before the end of the night and began texting immediately. Weeks went on and the two had many conversations via text message, mainly about Game of Thrones, foosball, volleyball and soccer. There were many attempts to see each other again, but for the first month they all fell through. They had a first date set, but at the last minute, Morgan cancelled as a close friend was moving out of town the following day. Ryan teased Morgan for canceling on him and was able to get a new first date scheduled for the next week. However on their ‘second’ first date, Ryan had to "eat crow" as it was his turn to cancel on Morgan due to a last minute work emergency. The third time was the charm as the two finally saw each other again after about a month since they first met. They had their first official date at Condado's, a Mexican restaurant in the Short North. There, they shared stories about themselves growing up and during college. Afterwards, they indulged in their shared love of ice cream at Simply Rolled, where they learned how much they both loved the Foo Fighters. After that, they talked constantly -- and the rest is history!
In need of a break from quarantine life, Ryan & Morgan had plans to meet at a friend's family cottage on the coast of Maine in July. Two required negative COVID tests plus a 15 hour drive along with their closest friends later, they spent the week socially distanced from everyone but their group of 12. Mid-week, Ryan & Morgan convinced the group to travel two hours north to visit Maine's only National Park, Acadia, so they could get another stamp in their passport book and explore as much of the park as they could. As the day-trip came to an end, the last item on the itinerary was a three mile hike, planned by friends Mary and Chad, that would take the group to the top of one of Acadia’s mountain peaks. The group was losing steam at the end of a long day, but fortunately word had spread that Ryan was planning to propose on the ensuing hike. This prompted a spirited pep talk from Goob to regain the motivation needed to proceed, as she demanded that the hike take her somewhere scenic. As the group made their way to the top of Pemetic Mountain, everyone took some moments to themselves to soak in the beauty all the while keeping a side eye on Ryan for when the moment was about to happen! Upon reaching the summit, the group realized they had the best view that Acadia had to offer to themselves without any other visitors nearby. Ryan kept pushing ahead with Liv & Tim searching for the perfect backdrop. When Morgan spotted Ryan posing for a picture with his brother and her best friend, she got very jealous and shouted that she needed to be included in the next photo with them. Liv suggested that Ryan & Morgan pose for a picture instead, at which point Ryan got down on one knee and popped the question! It was an emotional moment as Morgan said yes to marrying her best friend. The group still had to complete the mile and a half hike down the mountain before they could partake in celebratory ‘surf & turf’ and drinks to commemorate the great day!
