Becky and I and a handful of others started to attend a karaoke show every Friday evening. It wasn't long after we started attending this establishment that we knew all the staff members by name, including the cook Dan. After a year or so of being just friends for a while with the whole crew, Dan convinced everyone else at the bar to say they were busy after watching a Raven's game, a fact that he still denies today. I was unaware of this plan and was always up for a movie. Dan was trying so hard to get SOMEONE, ANYONE to go to the movies with him, that I couldn’t say no. I felt bad for the little guy. That evening, Dan and Lauren had their first unofficial date. I was duped!! It was a few months later before he made the next move but when he did, that was it for me, I was hooked. Dan joked on our 1st official date, at Little Havana, that the next time he took me there he would ask me to marry him. He in fact did, it was 8 years later, but who's counting!
I had known Lauren for a while, but had no real interest in her until a group of us went to a concert where I had pretend to pay attention to my then girlfriend but really kept watching Lauren. Over a year later, Lauren randomly wanted to go to the movies with me, it was fun. I called my mom on the way back to tell her about the movie I had just seen with a girl named Lauren. Three months after that, it was a normal Friday night, I had just gotten off of work and ordered a beer. I was startled by a beautiful woman wanting to talk to me. Little did I know she had just as big of a crush on me as I had on her. She kissed me! She likes me! I asked my friends over the next few days if she was just messing with me for a free bar tab. Finally, I was able to get her number and she agreed to go to brunch with me at Little Havana. Our next date was to the Zoo where we watched penguins. It was then I realized, I never wanted anything else in my life but this strong beautiful woman.
