What a whirlwind!

DATE CHANGE

We are so excited to celebrate with you! Due to a recent family medical diagnosis, we got married quickly. We had a small, family only ceremony on January 23, 2021. Now, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate with our friends and family from all over!

How We Met

For all of you who called it!

We first met at Gordon College, through Residence Life. Andrew served as a Resident Advisor in Wilson Hall while Ebeth served as the Resident Director. Through the years, Ebeth and Andrew remained friends, and eventually Andrew moved to Kentucky. Friends have been making jokes for years about us dating, while Ebeth always said never.

The Story Continues

"You really want to be with her? Like for real?"

Interest sparked over sanding hardwood floors. Weeks of sanding, staining and re-sanding-then some more sanding (and sweat equity) of Ebeth's hardwood floors-led to many conversations and jokes about planning a fake proposal (to kill all the jokes by friends- it was nearly unbearable!). It all came down to her sister, Emily, responding to a text message with "You really want to be with her, like for real?" On the night on July 23rd, Andrew received this message and it triggered real and honest conversation the following day! Andrew explained that he had an answer to Emily's questions- "I would be all for it, but Ebeth would never go for it." This led Ebeth to ask Andrew, "Do you mean that, like, for real?" He responded that he did, in fact, mean it! They decided they would dive into the dating scene, and after 4 months, got engaged!

The Proposal

November 25, 2020

Date night at its finest during COVID. Restaurants had closed dine-in seating, so Andrew had arranged to pick up Texas Roadhouse. After dinner, dessert was in order so we decided Cold Stone was in order to use our birthday coupons. Unbeknown to Ebeth, Andrew enlisted the help of her parents to arrange a surprise at Ebeth's house. Upon arriving back to Ebeth's house, there was a note taped to the door that launched Ebeth on a journey around the house. Each note represented pivotal moments in the building of the relationship and contained an alphabetical letter that was a part of a puzzle to be solved. Each note also pointed to the next part of the journey. Once the letters were collected, Ebeth laid them out on the edge of the table. When Andrew said, "Go!" it was time to arrange the letters.... TURN AROUND...and when Ebeth did in fact turn around, Andrew was down on one knee ring in hand.

Wedding Day

3 Weeks

So, we did it! We planned a wedding in 3 weeks! On January 23, 2021, we recited our vows in front of our immediate families and many of our friends across the world were able to tune in online. We are thankful to have had the opportunity for an intimate ceremony, but are looking forward to celebrating with all our friends and family in January 2022.
