Why this is likely your best “all-around” choice: > It has more flight options and stronger connectivity to/from both the West and Midwest. > The drive to Lake Placid is acceptable (~2 hours from BTV). > Good mix of convenience and flexibility for guests coming from across the country. > It’s still a ~2-hour drive after landing; you’ll want to coordinate logistics for transfers.

Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK) — Saranac Lake / Lake Clear, NY
Why this might be ideal for convenience: > This is the closest airport to Lake Placid (only ~17 miles / ~30 minutes drive). If you are based mostly regional (Northeast) and you value minimal ground travel, this is attractive. > The flight/route options are quite limited — fewer airlines, fewer major hubs served. > Cape Air from Boston tends to be best option, to be used as a connection.
