On October 17th 2011 Greg messaged Croix on twitter...the rest is history.
Thanksgiving week 2016, I invited Greg to Washington, D.C. to visit my Mom's family. Greg knew that's when he would propose; I was oblivious. Since we were in the east, we planned on spending a day in New York City; Greg's first time there. His initial thought was to propose sometime while he and I enjoyed the City. However, my Mom's family in DC, like Greg's family, is vibrant. Fun. Loving. Good vibes nonstop. So Greg, T-giving night, decided to propose in DC the next day at our visit to the National Museum of African American History & Culture. What better place than where our ancestors could pray and watch over us. We get there and Greg was stopped at security. The ring was in his pocket, and, as he passed through, beeping noises went off. Nonstop. He had to secretly talk to security for quite a few minutes, show them the ring and convince them he didn't have a weapon - all while trying to make sure they didn't pull the ring out in the open. Me, my cousin Anisha, godsis Nikki, our Penelope, and my Mom waited for him on the side, a ways off. We weren't privy to the conversation, but he walked over all smiles. Greg's top priority was to identify the perfect spot. The first stop we made was the Contemplative Court. "This is it," he whispered to my mom. All unbeknownst to moi. The Contemplative Court is gorgeous. Meditative atmosphere. It has caramel-bronze walls with glass, soft, warm lighting, and a cylindrical massive ceiling-to -floor waterfall with natural light shining through. Liberating quotes adorn all the walls. 3.5 hrs. later, 20-mins. to museum closing, you can understand my surprise when Greg and my mom insisted we go see it again. I honestly was a little peeved 'cuz there was an exhibit I wanted to rush and see. But I held my cool. When we arrived, Greg suggested we take a picture way on the opposite side of the room. I was confused ... Greg never takes pics. After my mom took a couple, he got down on one knee and asked to marry me! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
