It was a typical Aggie love story. We met sophomore year in marketing class. A lengthy pursuit followed with several paper airplanes, a common bond over running, and Sam playing never-ending fixer-upper, our friendship fell into a love story and we became inseparable.
While we had discussed getting engaged, Sam really wanted the proposal itself to be a complete surprise. As the sleuth I am, I had narrowed down the weekends that we were free for the next two months and convinced myself that September 9th would be the day. With that, he had told me back in June that his company had a work event at Hotel Drover on August 12th, showing me the invitation from his boss and a PowerPoint for the event that “looked” legit. On the day of this work event, Sam insisted I change from dress pants and a blouse, to something dressier. While I was a bit suspicious, I listened and changed into a black dress. When we got to Hotel Drover, he bypassed the front of the hotel and walked around to the side to what he called "The LoneStar Room" (not a real room). He then reached for the door, noticed it was locked, turned around, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Without hesitation, I said yes to the love of my life!
