Mike and I met the weekend before my birthday almost three years ago. I’d definitely say that there was a good amount of events that had to fall into place for Mike and I to meet but we are both so very lucky and thankful that they did. When we met, Mike did what I thought was impossible.... asked me on a date! Crazy. Of course I said yes, how could I not? Now here’s crazy part two. He picked me up. He opened the door for me, and I’m not just talking the door to my apartment or the restaurant but the car door. I was so impressed and not just by the amount of food he can eat (he’s a fatty) but by how genuine and kind he is. We both have found a partner in crime in each other, a best friend, and a partner for life.

Mike likes to surprise me. He likes to top his surprises each time he does it. Obviously, this has been the best one yet. Mike decided that he was going to propose on HIS birthday. Yes, on his day! Why? Because he said I would never expect it and to be fair he was right. Mike was supposed to be at work when I got home and I thought he was when I pulled up to our house and his car wasn’t parked out front. So I went inside and let the dogs out as per my regular routine. Little did I know, Mike was waiting for me in our room on his knee! It was a complete shock and I think I asked “what are you doing” more than I’ve ever asked anyone in my life. He tried to nervously get through my entire name before he asked me to be his birthday present this year. Shocked isn’t the word. I realize now that I said “of course” instead of yes at first but he got the point. YES! We couldn’t be more happy!
