Part 1--1980--We first met at the beginning of junior high school, 7th grade. I had a major crush on him, but he saw me more like his personal Dear Abby. I was the smart girl who could give him advice and help him with his "girl problems." He always wanted to know how to get some new girl to notice him. I was torn between being the loyal friend (whatever I could get), and getting him to notice me! Two years later, he finally noticed me, and he became my first high school love. But it was not meant to last, as we were on different paths in life. Part 2--Fast forward to 2017. By then, social media had exploded, and we had been "friends" on Facebook for about 6 years. But we still had never reunited in person. I had hoped to see him the year before (2016) at our 30-year high school class reunion, but he was living out of state at the time, and wasn't able to return for the event. I messaged him expressing my disappointment, as he was one of the few classmates I really wanted to see again. One day during Memorial Day weekend, I was home alone when I received a message on my phone. It was Mike. He said hello, and wondered what I was up to. We started texting, then he called and we chatted, and after talking for a couple of hours, we decided to get together in person. I was very nervous on my way to go meet him. I mean, we were 30 years older than the last time we met. Would he be anything like the young man I had loved so long ago? Since you're reading this, the answer is yes! From the first moment we came face to face, the sparks flew!! All of the old chemistry we'd had back in our youth still existed! I was so happy to see him. It was like coming home. I just knew. Now he's going to be my husband, almost 40 years after I first fell in love with him!
