The Story of Us

This story starts like any other modern love story begins: with Hinge. We met on the famed dating app "designed to be deleted" in the Summer of 2023. Luke had sent the first like and, after thorough consultation with her girlfriends, Cristy confirmed the match. After a few exchanged messages, we met at Utepils Brewing in Minneapolis for what was supposed to be a couple of drinks. The brewery notes that the word "utepils" is a Norwegian term for the indescribable; the feeling of taking that first sip of a crisp beer after a long, dark winter has ended. And we would say this date felt just like that. We spent several hours together that evening talking about everything from indie music to the existence of extraterrestrials. During the date, we realized that over the next 3 weeks both of us would be traveling out of town, meaning we would likely not be able to see each other over that entire span. We squeezed in a second date two days later promising to chat through the extended hiatus and, hopefully, meet again. And, luckily we did! After our respective trips it almost felt like we'd have to start over, but a few thoughtful texts and scenic photos made the time between seem short. On October 28, 2023, we figured we'd make it official after our friend introduced us as boyfriend and girlfriend to a group at a Halloween party. We've since shared countless concerts, sampled innumerable restaurants and breweries, and taken trips across the globe. In the Summer of 2024, we moved to the big city, Chicago, and have built a home here with our dog, Finnley. After a couple of years and some major life changes, we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. On November 15, 2025, Luke planned a surprise engagement involving both of our families and, of course, our dog. On that uncharacteristically warm day in November, Luke got down on one knee and Finnley popped the question with a custom dog bandana under the Honeycomb in Lincoln Park. We celebrated as our families jumped out of the bushes to greet us as the newly engaged couple. We are so excited for the chapter ahead and are blessed to have all of you to share in our story. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
