Our wedding hashtag to collect all the memories from our wedding
Rachel and Mario met for a "tinder date" back in 2015 at The Burntwood Tavern. Rachel was a new nurse at Metro in the ER and Mario a fireman at Parma Fire Dept. They hit it off on their first date. Their second date was an invite from Rachel to Mario to join some friends for dinner to celebrate her birthday in Tremont at a local restaurant. A few days after Mario accepted the invite, he was notified that a few friends had turned into Rachel's parents, her brother, her parent's friends, all her close friends and coworkers. Needless to say, Mario fit right into the group. The night ended with Rachel asking, "are you going to drink tea with me?" Mario still uses this line on her with a smile and a high-pitched voice. Shortly after multiple dates, movie nights, and "breakfasts" before the night shift, Rachel announced that she was moving to Charleston, SC to begin her travel nurse career. Mario accompanied Rachel down to Charleston and helped her move in. After a few great days at the beach with some memories made the two parted ways with the intention to stay friends. Over the 6 years or so that Rachel was away the two thought of each other from time to time and Mario admitted later to Rachel that she would always have been "the one that got away." Of course, life happens and life can take a different course. Rachel moved herself back to Cleveland to be closer to family after the passing of her father. Mario got wind that Rachel was back in town and promptly reached out. Rachel just happened to take a travel assignment in Asheville, NC and the day Mario texted Rachel, she again found herself driving the same route from Cleveland to the Carolinas all over again. Naturally, this bummed Mario out but it had quite the opposite effect in the vehicle driving down to NC. Rachel's first thought was "Well, traveling was fun while it lasted. Now I'll move home and marry Mario." Rachel recalled the fun times they had, the connections, and conversations they had made. Three months in Asheville didn't sound bad at all- especially because Mario mentioned mountain biking. The two of them caught up over the time Rachel was in Asheville and they decided to meet up in Charleston where they left off just about 6 years ago. Charleston was a blast for the two of them. They walked the town they once walked years ago but with a wiser eye and different intentions for each other. Of course, vacations do as vacations do- they come to an end. The two parted ways with plans for another visit in a month or so. This visit was Mario coming down to Asheville for a mountain biking adventure. The two had so much fun hiking, mountain biking and camping that they ended up packing up the car and moving Rachel home 2 weeks early. The two have really gotten to know what each other are truly made of. They have had beach vacations. They have survived the crowds in NYC during Christmas time. They have mountain biked across CO to UT and DC to Pittsburgh together. They have road tripped around some national parks across the Southwest. They have dipped their feet in both oceans and the Gulf together. They experienced Iceland and slept under the northern lights. They have developed a strong and special relationship over all of those experiences and realized that have quite a lot in common. They both work (probably) way too many hours, they both want to accomplish many life goals and they both want to spend as much time outside as possible. After all of these experiences Mario did what any red-blooded American boy would do: he asked Rachel to marry him. ;)
