Where should I stay in London?

Answer

Some potential areas include: Fitzrovia, Marleybone, Paddington, Shoreditch, Notting Hill, City of London, or Mayfair. Most city attractions are in Zone 1 or Zone 2 and the city is easy to get around on the tube. For reference, we live in Primrose Hill which is in North London above Camden. There are hotel options around Kings Cross / Islington as well, which is a well connected area.

Will there be a rehearsal dinner?

Answer

No rehearsal dinner. The plan for the weekend is a welcome party on Friday at the house with food trucks and games, and then the wedding celebrations on Saturday.

What do I need to know before traveling to England?

Answer

Before traveling to England from the U.S., you will need a valid passport and an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which is required for short-term visits for U.S. citizens and must be applied for in advance. An ETA is valid for two years, takes less than 24 hours, and costs $13.

Where else can I travel around England?

Answer

Paris is a 2 hour train ride direct from London. Edinburgh in Scotland is 4 hours direct from London. There are easy flights all over Europe - reach out if you want help planning! You can easily get to Cambridge or Oxford from Central London via Train. York is a 2 hour train ride from London and a medieval city we highly recommend! Chester is also a short train to the north and a beautiful Roman city. The Cotswolds is an easy drive from London as well. Devon offers beachy areas, hiking and beautiful countryside. Cornwall further to the west is known for its beaches, coastline, and vacationland terroir.

Should I rent a car and drive to Tiverton?

Answer

It is entirely up to you. It will definitely be nice to have a car to explore Devon and the south west, but you can also schedule taxis and take the train direct from Paddington - it is easy and beautiful! Uber does not exist in this area, so keep that in mind that all taxis will need to be scheduled in advance.
