Our story begins in the sunny, tropical paradise of Grenada in 2021, where we met as medical students at St. George’s University. We were both knee-deep in the relentless demands of med school, struggling like everyone else—but somehow, amidst the chaos of exams and clinicals, we were the happiest we had ever been. (We’re still struggling through med school, but that’s beside the point.) Our love blossomed against the backdrop of Grenada’s natural beauty. Our first dates took us to breathtaking seaside cliffs, the soft white sands of the island’s beaches, and unforgettable picnics beneath a canopy of stars. Somewhere between the sound of crashing waves and the warm tropical breeze, we realized what we had was special. That realization only deepened when, after both catching COVID, we had to quarantine in one room for ten days. Let’s just say... nobody died! It was a true test of compatibility, and by the end of it, we knew we could face anything together. Fast forward a bit, and we found ourselves stateside, setting up our first apartment in New Jersey—our new home, complete with Shayanah by our side. Everything was perfect, or so we thought. Just three weeks after signing our two-year lease, life threw us a curveball: Reggie was sent to California for her third-year clinical rotations. Despite the distance, we were determined to make it work. Our cross-country road trip to LA to drop Reggie off was more than just a long drive—it was a defining moment for us. Somewhere between the miles of open road, foggy drives, and endless playlists, we realized we were truly in it for the long haul. In the stunning red rock landscape of Utah, just outside Capitol Reef National Park, Reggie couldn’t wait any longer—she got down on one knee first and asked the question. Cristina, not one to be outdone, proposed soon after with a necklace under the rocky faces of Zion National Park. The months of long distance tested us in ways we never could have imagined, but they also strengthened us. We emerged on the other side closer than ever before. Finally, in September 2024, we were reunited, and we’ve been excitedly planning our big day ever since. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
