Cristina was travelling through Ireland for a month and Marc was in Dublin for the weekend. We were both drinking at The Auld Dubliner for our last few hours in the country when we all bumped into each other at the bar. The gals were only staying for one drink and then back to the hotel to catch an early flight back. The lads were only staying for one drink and then heading to the airport for their flight back to the UK. The two groups met and then ended up spending the day together drinking shots and dancing to live Irish music. We loosely kept in touch, met up again over a year later and well, the rest is history...
We went to Dusseldorf in Germany at the end of November for the Christmas markets and I'd decided that was the perfect moment to ask for Cristina's hand in marriage. We went on a tour of the city, drank mulled wine and spent the day exploring the magical markets. At sunset I took Cristina down to the river and with the sun setting over the Rhine, I asked Cristina to be my wife. It was all a total blur, and even though I prepared a short speech I don't remember a word I said! Thankfully she said yes and we've been on cloud nine ever since.
