Giuseppe attended the American Academy of Religion annual meeting with a colleague and joined a session titled, "Western Utopias: Ghost Dances, Jewish Farming, and Psychedelic Mystics." Cristina walked in late. He saw her, but was too shy to say anything. He left early and ran into Cristina in the hall. When he saw her approaching, the only words he could summon were in the form of a question: "Wasn't that the most boring thing you've ever seen?" She agreed and he invited her to coffee. After visiting a shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Faustina, and Pope St. John Paul II, they took their coffee and sat on a bench in front of Trinity Church Boston. Over the years, they kept in contact. On October 28, 2020, the Feast of St. Jude, they reconnected over conversations about the resurrection of the body, Aimee Semple McPherson, and HBO's The Vow. They never stopped talking. St. Jude, patron of lost causes, pray for us.
