Flight
MEX (Benito Juarez) is the closest airport and it's right in Mexico City. There is another airport, Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU) that is 40 minutes out of the city, but there is a shuttle into the city and taxis ($$). When you arrive, you can order an Uber, Lyft, use public transportation, or get a taxi (see FAQs) to move from the airport to your hotel or airbnb.
Travel Note
Mexico City is very welcoming and touristic, with plenty of neighborhoods where you can stay and enjoy the city. The venue for the wedding is in Iztapala, but if you want a more touristic place to walk around, you could find interesting exploring: - Downtown Coyoacan - Roma (Like the movie) - Condesa - Polanco I prefer to stay in an Airbnb, especially for larger parties, but there are plenty of hotel options everywhere for different budgets.
Travel Note
There are a million things to do in Mexico City, so follow your heart and choose what excites you the most. Also, we are more than happy to have you join us for our planned activities. Some places are considered musts, such as Zocalo, Bellas Artes, Coyoacan, and Chapultepec, but it is better to focus on a few things in such a big city. Here is some more information : https://www.global-gallivanting.com/where-to-stay-in-mexico-city-the-safest-areas-best-hotels-for-all-budgets/ I found this guide very useful for information about lodging and things to do, but remember that the journey is what you make of it. Also, Jimena made this very good, full of information guide for things to do, eat, tips et.
Travel Note
There is traffic in Mexico City, and driving and finding parking could be stressful. The best is to use Uber or Didi, the main rideshare companies in the city. The prices are low relative to the US, and the service is very safe. For example, a trip from downtown to the wedding venue is around 15 USD. I can assure you that this will be more convenient than renting a car. Mexico City never sleeps, so you can ask for a ride at any time, even at 3 a.m. It might take a bit longer and be more expensive, but you can rely on a ride nearby, especially in tourist areas. There are taxis in the city, but they only take cash. So, if you see one, be prepared. They have a "taximetro" that displays the money you have to pay so far for the trip. If you want to explore the public transportation system, just avoid rush hours. Traveling by subway, Metrobus, and cable bus is a very efficient way to get around downtown. To go further, I would take an Uber.
