Crissy and Aurelio crossed paths on the dating app, Hinge. After endless conversations and laughter they decided to meet for their first date September 28th, 2022. Aurelio asked Crissy what her favorite type of restaurant was and as a test she let him pick the place. He chose Niki's Tokyo Inn, not knowing this was one of her favorite places to frequent. From there they realized how in sync they really were, both having a huge passion for art and uncommon hobbies. They also shared an interest in things that were old or left behind by others, in particular scraps of metal and anything vintage. Both their families being from San Antonio they found out their fathers had attended St. Cecilia's Catholic school as young boys during the same time period, and funnily enough feared the same nun. Their grandparents were all members of the Holy Name Society together and knew one another. Crissy had also spent time with his cousins without even knowing it until recognizing them at family gatherings. It was truly layers and layers of six degrees separating them. Now that they found one another being apart didn't pose as an option.

Aurelio decided during the holiday season of 2023 that it was time to talk to Doreen, he surprised her with flowers at her house when asking for Crissy's hand in marriage. Once she gave her blessing, he approached Mark and Mitzi on the annual family lake trip. He chose to take Crissy to Cappy's Restaurant knowing that it holds a special place in her heart because it has so many things her father made within it. He planned it all out: He had a unique bouquet arranged, a little velvet cowboy hat shaped box for the ring, and visited the restaurant as they were prepping for their evening shift to ensure that the server knew of his special proposal plan. They enjoyed the appetizer together, ordered their main course, until finally Aurelio worked up the nerve to get on one knee. It was as if the whole restaurant froze to watch Aurelio propose as the server walked out with the bouquet. A sweet group of ladies at near by table were sure to get pictures for Paulina and Doreen. He took it from yee-haw to wee-haw y’all.

Doreen and Aurelio invited a small group of friends and family to greet the newly engaged couple to surprise Crissy and celebrate. They shared their story, drinks, and laughs with loved ones and it was the perfect end to a beautiful evening. They are one lucky couple.
