We first met in sunny Daytona Beach, FL, back in the spring of 2016. It was thanks to a mutual friend that our paths crossed one day by chance. Coming from the same country, Ecuador, we immediately felt a connection! What started as casual conversations quickly turned into a strong friendship, and before we knew it, we became best friends (BFFs, really!). Our “official” story began during an unexpected adventure. In 2017, Hurricane Irma forced an evacuation, and we ended up on a road trip to Washington, D.C. During that trip, we discovered that our bond was much deeper than either of us had imagined. But let’s be honest, it wasn’t all smooth sailing! Cris wasn’t quite ready to admit his feelings, which brought its share of drama and uncertainty. However, as the phrase from the "Something from Tiffany's" movie goes, "don't focus on the mess, but on the outcome". And so, even with the rough start, we couldn’t deny what we felt for each other. Fast forward to September 13, 2019—Cris officially asked the question that started it all, and we began dating. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. From navigating a global pandemic to supporting each other through the transition from students to professionals, we’ve grown together every step of the way. In 2021, life threw us a new challenge. Pau (or Stefy, as Cris and many friends call her) received a job offer in Indiana. With Cris still finishing his master’s degree in Florida, the idea of long-distance was daunting, and we weren’t sure how it would work. But as the saying goes, lo que tiene que ser, será—what’s meant to be, will be. Over the next year, we made it work with countless flights and road trips between Florida and Indiana. Then, in May 2023, Cris also got a job offer in Indiana, and we packed his bags and started our new chapter together in Greenwood, IN, with our fur baby, Ashton. On October 12, 2024, Cris asked another big question—this time, for forever—and Pau said, “Yes!” Now, we’re excitedly planning our wedding day on September 13, 2025, which also marks our 6th anniversary. This moment is so special to us, not only because we’ll say “I do” but also because we’ll be surrounded by all the friends and family who have been part of our journey. For us, this day will be a celebration of love, friendship, and the adventures that brought us here. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and make memories we’ll cherish forever. See you soon! With love, Cris & Pau
