Located in Leesburg Va, Oatlands Historic House and Gardens is the most romantic place we’ve ever been. The gardens and grounds are breathtaking. But being in Virginia, there’s always a catch. While looking around the grounds of this historic site, we noticed many mentions of the enslaved folks who worked this land. The description of the slaves here are horrendously minimized. We want to use our voice to encourage places like these to not minimize, but instead recognize the atrocities that took place on this site. After the wedding please voice your thoughts on their Google page to share with others so as not to minimize the facts. Together, we can all make a difference. We can bring any kind of justice to these many millions of slaves who were tortured, maimed, raped and slaughtered. We hope that bringing this awareness and never sugarcoating history will keep these historical facts clear and alive so history is NEVER repeated.
