As Cristin hung up a phone call with her mother letting her know the decision to move to Charleston was official, she hopped onto Bumble while waiting for her flight back to NYC. Matt was working just yards away at Boeing, and for some reason, his bearded, beer-drinking profile picture captured Cristin's attention. Amongst all of the fishing pictures and suped up truck pictures, something just told her to reach out.

Matt knew Cristin’s birthday was only two weeks from when they first matched on Bumble, and as the old adage goes, “when you know, you know.” He booked a flight to LGA, and the pair galavanted around Brooklyn for the weekend. It felt like they had known each other for years. For two months, Matt and Cristin took turns hopping on short flight between CHS and NYC. During the times they weren’t together in-person, flurries of text messages and long FaceTime calls became the norm.

Cristin officially landed in Charleston with her mom and Stedman in tow in November 2022. Matt met them at the airport at midnight (despite needing to work in a few hours) and Linda knew this kid was a keeper. He helped her set up her new apartment, enjoyed (many) cocktails with Linda and thus started Cristin's southern love story.
