It all started in 2019 when we met in Toronto, where we began our first contract with Disney Cruise Line. One morning we bumped into each other in the elevator on the way to rehearsal and Tyler asked Jess if she wanted to join him to go check out the Toronto Raptors Championship Parade. Jess politely declined. She said she "didn't have time because she had to run to rehearsal" and then Tyler quickly corrected her that she "wasn't called to rehearsal for another hour." Embarrassed, Jess said she would just "go get coffee then until rehearsal," to which Tyler replied, "Okay, I'll come with you to get coffee and then we're gonna go check out the parade together." Bold move. We hit it off and quickly became friends. We both understudied characters in the shows and always found "excuses" to need to extra rehearsal time with each other. Rehearsing scenes together turned into finding any excuse to hang out, staying up way too late in our crew cabins entranced in deep heartfelt conversations. We grew to be inseparable and eventually these 'friends' stopped fighting feelings for each other. One late December night, Tyler pulled Jess into his crew cabin to show her a new song he had written on the guitar. (He's just Ken). Jess politely listened and said it was beautiful. Then Tyler confessed the song was actually about Jess... and the rest is history. The next four years would be full of unexpected adventures: performing opposite one another, quarantining together during a global pandemic, living and working in New York, holidays, weddings, East/West Coast family visits, concerts, hockey games, traveling all over Europe, Mexico & Canada together. Then, during our fourth and final contract with Disney Cruise Line, Tyler proposed to Jess in the same city where our story began.
