We had both just moved to Spokane in 2015 and volunteered at the same non-profit. We started organizing potlucks and fundraisers together and quickly realized we enjoyed each other's company. Rebecca thought "what a nice guy! I should hook him up one of my friends," but then realized that maybe she should take a closer look herself but she was hesitant to start dating again. Jeff was definitely interested in her, and persistent, as he didn't want to stay in the "friend" zone . Rebecca agreed to go out with Jeff, but requested they not call it "dating-dating." Jeff said "Well...there will be kissing though-otherwise we're still just friends." It didn't take long for Rebecca to realize what a great guy Jeff was as they started seeing each other regularly...but not dating dating.
On their 3rd Anniversary, Rebecca wasn't cooperating with Jeff or her best friend Mandy's attempts to plan a special day and insisted they work that day and just go to a nearby restaurant later in the evening for dinner. So instead of getting Rebecca out in nature on a beautiful hike or something... Jeff proposed to Rebecca in the back yard of Mandy's house right before they headed out for dinner. It was already dark out but he insisted that he had to show her one of the trees he was trimming up. Mandy quickly snuck behind them to take photos as Jeff got on one knee and opened a box with the most beautiful ring Rebecca had ever seen. It fit perfectly! Rebecca immediately gave Jeff kisses, but had to be prompted to actually say yes as she sorta forgot to answer his question. After hugs, more kisses, and some tears of joy, they went out for a wonderful dinner at Picabu Bistro.
