We swiped right! We originally met on Bumble, but when we realized we had mutual friends at Baylor Zoe asked George to Zeta formal! We hit it off immediately and continued to spend time together throughout the rest of our senior year.
George had been planning the proposal since the first time he met Zoe. He knew from their very first date that he was going to eventually ask her to marry him. The real planning did not start until July of 2022. George figured that the best way to pull off this surprise was to plan it for a Baylor football game weekend. He invited all of the people that they love and asked Zoe to marry him on Baylor campus the night before the game. He contacted their friends first and informed them of the plan. The hardest part was yet to come, asking Zoe’s parents. After setting a date with all the friends, George realized he needed to start planning on how to ask the Nervos. Chris, Traci, and Belle would be attending his graduation at the end of July, so that gave George the perfect time to ask. He picked them up at the airport in Boston and took them out to dinner, it went well but he blacked out due to nerves and forgot everything he said. Fortunately, he did remember a lot of crying, smiling, and laughing. As time went on both Traci and Maureen were amazing with the prepping for the big day. They gathered all the decorations and Maureen even knitted the couple a blanket for George to kneel on when he asked. Finally, the day came, November, 11, 2022 and the couple was driving down to Waco to attend a Baylor football game. Leading up to that night George had been mentioning to Zoe that he wanted to take her out on a date that night to one of their original date spots: Barnett’s in Waco. It was there that he would let the family and friends who were on Baylor’s campus get the decorations set up. Finally, after having a drink at Barnett’s the couple got into the car with Zoe under the impression that they were headed to Shorty’s to meet up with some friends. On the way to Shorty’s George asked Zoe if they could take a detour to campus to see the fountain in the middle of campus. When they arrived on campus George walked Zoe down the path to the fountain. As they approached the fountain Zoe noticed the candles, pillows, blanket and flowers set up in front of the fountain. She said, “George I think there is something happening here, and we are in the middle of it.” To which George responded with, “Yeah we’re happening here”. For the next 15 minutes, there was a lot of crying and hugging. Out from the background came all of their friends and family cheering and congratulating them. You could even notice the dads tearing up in the background. That weekend was filled with love and excitement for the years to come as George and Zoe build a life together.
