Once upon a time, Crestyn and Libby, young preteens of 11 and 12 years old, attended Camp Cowen, a week-long Baptist Church camp, where they met and became fast friends. For the next 4-5 years after that, Crestyn and Libby would meet up at Camp Cowen for their yearly week of companionship, both of them having "secret" crushes on each other but knowing that they lived too far away from each other to ever have a real relationship (at the time, Crestyn lived in Charleston and Libby lived in Bridgeport). As they grew older and then had cell phones and social media, they exchanged information and kept in touch, but distance was always an issue. They even attended each other's senior proms together, as friends. Then it was time for college. They both were going to WVU and would finally be in the same place! The dragon of distance had been slayed, but the dragon of time was still lurking around the corner. Libby was already in a serious relationship at the time and Crestyn found himself in a serious relationship shortly after starting college. And due to each of their partners dislike of the other party, they respectfully stopped all communication between them for nearly 3 years. And then in March of 2017, after both of their prior serious relationships had fallen apart, they met to catch up and have lunch and ended up falling back together as if no time at all had passed. And just like that, the time-dragon was slayed and they've lived happily ever after ever since!
For Libby's 25th birthday, Crestyn made her a scavenger hunt! (Libby had told him long ago how her favorite-ever birthday party was when her parents had put together a scavenger hunt for her around the house when she was maybe 8 years old.) She was given a clue card that she would have to solve to figure out the next location, and when she went to the next location, she was given the next clue card and so on. Together, they spent the day exploring Roanoke and doing fun activities at the various locations. And at the end of the scavenger hunt, Crestyn got down on one knee and proposed!
