Today, Tomorrow & Forever!

(C):: It was a friend of mine's birthday. I didn't want to go but after multiple calls and texts and a lot of "Cmon Calina" I gave in and just decided to head out. Mind you, it's December, so it's snowing...quite hard actually...and they wanted to go to a club (which I am NOT a huge fan of). We walk in to "The Taste" and I instantly went to the bar, I figured a couple drinks and maybe a snack would cheer me up LOL a couple drinks and a dance or five later, I go back to the bar to take a break and I saw her. She was standing at the bar with her friend (the best woman :) ) and I instantly was smitten. Her hair and her smile were the first things I noticed. But me being me, too shy to speak, I sent my friend Jessica over to do the work! She came back and said "ok she said she'll come over" but in the midst of my songs coming on, I actually left to go dance and when I came back she was gone. Talk about a let down...but wouldn't you know about 10-15min later, Rennetta came on the left side of me and said "So why couldn't you just come over..." and the rest is history... (R):: I didn't want to go outside and I definitely didn't want to go to the Taste. Mimi kept saying we needed to go and I just was not in the mood to go to that place. But I just said whatever and went but you could see it all on my face that I didn't want to be there. I peeped Calina a little bit but didn't think much of it, but when Calina's friend Jessica came over, another stud I might add, I was like UMMMMMM what do you want? But she quickly let me know she was there for her "sister" and not herself LOL I stayed at the bar a little while longer because believe it or not I'm shy too, but I didn't want to miss her so I turned around and she was gone. I was pissed. I was almost ready to leave when I checked again and noticed her sitting back in her spot. So I knew I had to go ahead and make my move so I went over and asked "Why couldn't you just come over?" And the rest is history...

We were hosting a birthday party for Rennetta, so I was making it my business to have EVERYONE there and to hopefully give her the last gift I had for her in front of our friends and family. I had been planning for weeks and I just wanted the night to be special because she had been so amazing to me and just really showing me what a true, committed relationship was like, I just had to do something. So I ordered her a woven blanket, made up of photos of all the people closest to her and the plan was to present it at the party and watch the tears fall...AND MAN DID THEY FALL! I sang to her, briefly, because I was getting so emotional I couldn't even get the words out (that's just how she makes me feel) and I became so overwhelmed that she got up from her chair and just held me. After I gained my composure somewhat she sat me down in the middle of everyone, right in the spot she was sitting, and started high-fiving her brothers and sisters...I was so confused. Then she turned around with a little black box and got down on one knee and I screamed!! The ugliest cry came out and I just couldn't help it...everyone at our home, my family as well as hers were all in on it!! So a night that I thought I planned to be all about her, turned into a proposal and an engagement party all about US!!

Our wedding will be taking place back in our hometown where we grew up and our love story began. We hope that all of our loved ones are able to come and join us in celebrating our union. See You in Chi-Town!!
