It all started over a book exchange in the sophomore hallway of Westlake High School in the Spring of 2011... One morning before class, Jordan accompanied a mutual friend who was delivering a book to Elizabeth for her to borrow. After quickly realizing that the two had never met, the friend introduced them: "Elizabeth, this is Jordan...Jordan, Elizabeth." Very underwhelming right?...But it gets better. They wouldn't speak again until the following school year, which is where their friendship truly developed. Having the "privilege" of arriving to school two hours earlier for extra-academic activities, they spent numerous hours laughing, joking, and completing the previous night's homework assignments. Although most of this time included other friends, there were moments that they started to engage in personal conversations that uncovered similar childhood upbringings, a shared sense of humour, and mutual perspectives on social issues—but the greatest of these was humour. Their love for laughter filled the next 2 years with a host of inside jokes and playful banter as their friendship continued to grow. In this time, Jordan asked Elizabeth to be his Valentine, which was a little unexpected, but the gesture was naively received as platonic, and the friendship proceeded as normal. It wasn't until Jordan asked Elizabeth to be his senior prom date that she began to realize that he was pursuing her beyond friendship. After prom, they went on a couple of movie dates and eventually Jordan mustered up the courage to ask Elizabeth to be his girlfriend, but she urged them to remain friends which ultimately led to silence between the two of them during their freshman year of college. It wasn't until Jordan crossed paths with Elizabeth sophomore year that he realized how much he missed their friendship. Slowly, he worked his way back into a regular cadence of phone calls, meet ups, and study sessions. Needless to say, the friendship effortlessly picked up where it left off. Even though things were going well, Jordan still yearned for more in their relationship and expressed his true feelings for Elizabeth on the rooftop of The Kellogg Hotel at Tuskegee University. The gesture truly moved her, which eventually led to them dating. What girl can say no to an expression of love on a rooftop? Over the next 10 years, the two would continue to grow in love and friendship—still sharing the same experiences that brought them together in the beginning. On March 30, 2024 Jordan asked for Elizabeth's hand in marriage on the rooftop of Ponce City market as an ode to the inception of their love story. Join them on their journey to the aisle and a beautiful union thereafter.
