The Proposal

The birds and the trees

It was the Summer of 2025, the day was August 31st. On this day, a young couple by the names of Brady and Megan were at church. By coincidence, rather divine providence, the sermon was on Love and Marriage. Unknowing to Megan, Brady was thinking how crazy this sermon topic was as he was intending to propose to her after church. When the sermon ended, Brady asked Megan what the plan was for the day. Side note, they never have plans on Sundays besides church. The plan was to take their friend, Josh, and his son, home to their house (Josh is a groomsman). Josh and Brady had to stall for at least an hour because Brady couldn't propose until 3pm because that's when the photographer could get to the proposal location. After Josh and Brady stalled for an hour and a half, Brady took Megan to McAlister's for lunch. At lunch, Brady only ate about 1/4 of his food, which is shockingly abnormal. Unbeknownst to Megan, Brady was so nervous food was not something he could handle. After lunch, Brady suggested a walk around at the Boone County Arboretum as they had not been there since winter. It is important to note that Megan was still in her church shoes and outfit. With some hesitancy, Megan said yes to going on a walk. At the Arboretum, they started on their way to the spot of the proposal. As they rounded the corner with the spot in view, Brady heard a bird off to the right (Brady is a bird nerd, so this was not a surprise); he pointed out the bird, for this acknowledgement of the bird was for purpose because their photographer and dear friend was to the left (in Megan's line of sight). As they kept walking, Brady saw a patch of trees that they had to go off the path to look at. Then Brady started describing the trees out of desperation because right before he was getting ready to propose a family was coming down the path and was going to get between them and the photographer. This awkward act of desperation involved describing the "red dawn tree and a big round tree"; there was nothing else that his anxious mind could come up with to stall while waiting on this family to SLOWLY pass by. After they walked by, Brady got down on one knee and well, you know what Megan said... She said, "Yes!" and did a happy dance.
