Braden was working as a police officer for the Indianapolis Metro Police Department and just so happened to be working an area that included Emily's neighborhood. Emily had just entered her subdivision after a visit at her good friend Niki's house when she noticed an extremely attractive police officer (Braden) who'd pulled over a U-Haul. While waiting for the traffic stop to wrap up, Emily chatted on the phone with Niki and commented the officer looked "fineeeee" (actual quote & spelling). The U-Haul headed into the neighborhood and Emily continued her way home....following the rules of the road (as she always does) but was shocked when she heard sirens and saw flashing lights behind her as she was about to turn into her driveway. Emily stopped in front of her drive, thinking she was about to get ticketed for some unknown reason when - suddenly - the police car drove around her and pulled over the U-Haul again. Emily watched in surprise as the attractive cop (Braden) proceeded with pulling multiple people from inside the back of the rental truck.... and putting them in handcuffs! For Emily, this was some free entertainment! So, she hurried into her house and peeked from the safety of her home ALL while narrating the excitement to her parents and Niki. Once the arrest wrapped up and things were safe again, Niki and her husband Andrew urged Emily to go out to give her phone number to the attractive officer...you know...as a special thanks for keeping her and her neighborhood safe, of course. Emily's immediate response was an immediate "No." But, after some consideration, she decided this could be a fun story to share with friends. She committed to "doing it for the plot." Based on Niki's suggestion to offer the officer a snack as an opener, Emily made her way towards the police vehicle with a Pepsi and a granola bar....with her name and number taped to it. Although neither Emily or Braden remember exactly what was said in those first moments (adrenaline on both sides but for different reasons), it must have been special for both of them. The very next morning, the fineeeee officer (Braden) texted her and asked her out. What began as a low-key coffee date lasted into breakfast....and their being inseparable since. It just goes to show that good things can happen, if you have snacks.
