Her Story

Before we met, I prayed a simple prayer. Not for perfection. Not for a fairy tale. I prayed that I would meet my husband and that even if we weren’t completely ready, we would grow together and learn to love each other well. Two weeks later, on April 26, 2022, our paths briefly crossed at work. It was a small moment almost forgettable. And yet, it was the beginning. On June 2, 2022, we truly met. What started as a first date bowling, dinner, and a party bus with live music until 3 a.m. felt surprisingly effortless. That night, walking back to the car, he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was simple. Certain. Steady. The weeks that followed felt less like something new and more like something familiar like reconnecting with an old friend. We talked, laughed, spent time together without pressure. There was ease between us. A month later, he invited me to Charlotte to meet his family. Watching him there loving his people, playing with his little cousins, being a tourist with me in a city he had seen a hundred times I began to understand that he was not just another chapter. He was the answered prayer. I cannot name the exact moment I fell in love. It wasn’t a single spark. It was a collection of moments: shared glances across a room, traveling the world side by side, praying together, quiet evenings, laughter that lingered, standing together through life’s lower seasons, building a home in the DMV. Our love has never been loud or rushed. It has been a slow burn like a controlled fire gentle, warm, steady. The kind of love that creates light without destruction. The kind that makes space. The kind that forgives. The kind that stays honest. I am grateful to share my life with a man who gives my love a safe place to land. And in him, I found exactly what I prayed for.

His Story

We first crossed paths at the Garnett MARTA train station while working a case. At that moment, it seemed like just another ordinary day, two professionals briefly meeting, focused on their responsibilities. But as the days went by, our paths kept crossing, and what began as a simple interaction gradually blossomed into something I never anticipated: a connection that felt so natural and effortless, as if we had known each other for years. Our first date was the moment everything truly clicked. We spent the evening playing mini golf at PuttShack, laughing, competing, and savoring every second together. Afterward, we enjoyed dinner at a cozy Mexican restaurant, where our conversation flowed as easily as our smiles. Time seemed to slow down as we shared time together. Just when we thought the evening was winding down, a stranger approached us and offered two free tickets to a party bus event. While I was hesitant at first, Marie’s adventurous spirit shone brightly when she said, “Let’s do it!” So, we spontaneously joined the party and ended up having the time of our lives embracing the unexpected. That night was spontaneous, fun, and felt absolutely perfect, setting the tone for our relationship. I knew she was the one in the most unexpected moment. While on vacation with my family in Jamaica, I stepped onto an elevator, and a feeling came over me, clear, calm, and certain. I realized he couldn’t imagine my life without her. It was as though the universe itself whispered that she was my person, the one I wanted by my side through every chapter of my life. On Christmas Day of 2024, I planned a special moment in Old Town Alexandria by the water. After a cozy meal at a nearby restaurant, the two took a quiet walk together. With the lights, the winter air, and the sound of the water around us, I asked Marie the most important question of my life. And she said yes.
