My cousin Sarah dragged me to the final preseason game in the Dome so she could see her sweetie Dustin. I tried my best to get out of it, but agreed to go for a bit. I was introduced to Craig (Dustin’s BFF) & his dad right at the foot of the steps of Champion Square. We didn’t speak much, but I mentioned to Sarah that both Craig & his dad had pretty eyes. She says nothing to me, but tells Dustin what I said. This apparently was of interest to Craig, which lead to a facetime call from Sarah & Dustin to me. It should be noted that up until this point I had been adamently opposed to even entertainig the idea of dating again. However, these two facetime me to say “We don’t know what to do.” I ask what this means & they indicate that both Craig & I have expressed some type of interest. It may have been the daquiri that I had, but I say, “my interest is peaked.” 🤪 Sarah & I were going on a cruise in October, so I was thinking Craig & I might meet again some time after that. Sarah, however, had other ideas & set up what we called the “meet & greet” on 9/11/16, the Saints season opener in the Dome. While I was a nervous wreck and convinced that Craig had a secret tally of all the things wrong with me and I was sweating profusely due to it being 1 million degrees outside, Craig appeared calm & collective. He was busy talking with everyone & helping his family, so the lack of chit chat had me convinced that he was not actually interested. It was game time & Sarah & I scored tickets with Dustin & Craig’s family. On the way to the Dome, Craig asked for my phone number. Sarah & I had to leave early, so on the way home I was bemoaning the fact that now I had to wait for him to text. As soon as the game was over, I received a text, “Well that sucked!” Referencing the Saints loss. We text well into the night & had our first date later that week at Fuji Hanna. I told Craig my entire life story & he kept coming back for more of my crazy. Must be love ❤️
