I, Natalie, was given Joe's contact information by his brother and we started talking. Two days later, I invited Joe and his friends to the Proctor Speedway to watch the bus races. Little did he know, on that day he would also meet my whole family.
When we first started dating, there was a tragedy in my family. I, Natalie, told my mom that I had hoped this wouldn't scare Joe away. She said to me, "If he is the one, he will stand by you." That statement will forever be how I think of Joe in our relationship and how I have continued to see him love and support me throughout life. A few months after, Joe had asked for my dads permission in dating me without me knowing it. I will never forget the day that we were walking out of church holding hands, and Joe looked at me and said, "You're my girlfriend now."
Joe took me to the secret little hide-a-way that I showed him the first time we hung out in Canal Park, Duluth, MN. As I walked up the trail (totally thinking this was my idea) I saw my sister and brother standing there with cameras. When I turned around, I saw Joe on one knee as he asked, "Will you marry me?".
