We met the good ol' fashioned way, on a dating app! We talked for a while before meeting up for drinks and churros at a local Mexican restaurant in Aurora, Colorado. Two days later we went on our first "official" date at Domu. Shannon was determined to not rush into anything (despite Alex's best efforts) and became officially a couple in July 2019.

In May of 2023 we took an amazing trip to Japan. We spent the majority of our time in Tokyo but took a bullet train to Kyoto for two days. On the second day, very early in the morning Alex dragged Shannon out of bed (grumpy and without breakfast or coffee) to see the bamboo gardens. We arrived early enough for the gardens to be peaceful and quiet. Alex set up his camera for what seemed to be another selfie but turned out to be a proposal! Don't worry, shortly after the proposal Alex got us breakfast and coffee.
