Prelude: What are the chances that someone from Nashville and someone from Baltimore fall in love? She moved to Baltimore, in August of 2018, after graduating residency to start her new career. At that time, I lived just outside of the city, and had recently made a career change from teaching to full time chef. For two years we had yet to meet. Gravity hadn’t pulled us into each other's orbit. The Exposition: Like many other working professionals, they eventually found their way onto a dating app. Covid struck and it felt as if the world stopped. In search of a breath of fresh air, she got off of the app for a period of time. He viewed the dating app as his compass to love. He couldn’t just go any direction and see where it led him, for he was looking for the true north. A direction that seemed impossible to locate. Yet he knew there’d be someone special in that direction so he aimed and took the first step. A few matches later, he came across her profile. She had rejoined with a renewed outlook. He swiped right and crossed his fingers that she would do the same…. August 20, 2020: The butterflies were ripping through my stomach while waiting for her to arrive. And then there she was! Instantly, the sparks began to fly. We enjoyed our tacos and conversed on the usual first date pleasantries. I knew I wanted to see her again. I asked her out for a second date - we went mini-golfing! We went to the waterfront park in Canton and had ourselves a luxurious little picnic with music and conversation. We still consider that date to be one of our favorites, but strive to make every date just as memorable. There isn’t anything I wouldn't do to make her happy. That determination continues to this day in whatever form it needs to be to maintain the sparks that are starting to catch fire. 2021: We began to explore our love for travel and took our first trips together. We visited Nashville in March of this year and she took me to one of her favorite spots to see the downtown skyline from the hill “Love Circle”. Hand-in-hand, we have journeyed together, facilitating the everydays, conquering challenges and developing new core memories that continue to grow our bond. A bond, that in the year to come, is sure to blossom into something more… For anywhere we go in life, we will be doing it together. 2022: Her parents planned to visit Baltimore in May. I knew this would be my best opportunity to indulge my traditional heart and ask her parents in person for her hand in marriage. My opportunity presented itself when she left briefly to take Grey for a walk and as soon as I went for it, I panicked - started talking about the weather, work, football, anything and everything but the question at hand. A conversational tangent occurred and I finally just blurted it out. It seemed like an eon had passed before they looked at each other and then back at me with grins on their faces. With a sigh of relief knowing that a yes was coming, I began to day dream of her and I, at the top of Love Circle, me getting up from one knee, sliding the ring onto her finger and making her my fiance’….
