COVID-19 Update #2

4/29/20

Due to COVID-19 gathering size limitations and health concerns, we have decided to have a small family wedding on June 6th. We will have a renewal of vows ceremony and reception at 5 pm on Saturday June 5th, 2021 at Windsong Estate Event Center in Severance, CO. More information will be mailed out to you as that date approaches, please continue to check our website for updates. We hope you understand the difficulty in making this decision, but we believe it is in everyone's best interest. We hope you are all staying safe, sane, and healthy. We look forward to celebrating with you next summer! -Ryan & Kayla

COVID-19 Update

4/13/2020

As an update, we are still going forward with our original June 6th wedding date. We remain hopeful, as we closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to abide by government guidelines with the date quickly approaching. We have set a tentative BACKUP date of Saturday, August 8th, at the same venue and time of day, in case we are unable to make June 6th work. Please refer back to our website with updates and we will communicate as best as we can, with as much advanced notice as possible. Thank you all for understanding during this trying time. We hope you and your families are staying healthy and safe!

How We Met

March 20, 2018

God reigns supreme and sovereign over all things, and we're thankful he ordained a meeting between Kayla and Ryan at church. Ryan noticed Kayla attend Sunday gatherings at Mill City Church on a weekly basis, where she often arrived by herself. Ryan served on the Welcome Team, where he greeted church attendees weekly, and where he also creepily observed Kayla, week-in and week-out. Sunday after Sunday, he noticed the pretty, blonde-haired and blue-eyed girl show up and leave. Finally, one Sunday, Ryan finally built up the courage to ask her out on a dinner date (actually, he had wanted to for weeks, but he simply did not have the nerve to approach and ask out the cute girl he had a crush on). After initiating awkward conversation regarding the weather and the color of her shoes, he grabbed his phone nervously to add in her phone number after asking her out. To his surprise, she said yes. After nearly dropping his phone while typing in her digits due to extreme nervousness (Kayla somehow, but thankfully, did not notice this), he got her number and asked her to dinner. They ate at Los Tarascos, where they quickly skipped surface level conversation and discussed Christ, the Bible, truth, and what it means to follow Christ, among other meaningful points of discussion. Thankfully for Ryan, she liked what she heard and said yes to a second date. The rest, as they say, is history.

The Proposal

October 5, 2019

Ryan decided he'd propose to Kayla on a car ride viewing the changing fall colors in Colorado. They made several stops along Peak to Peak Highway during peak leaf-changing season in the Centennial State. Ryan planned to pop the big question during a picnic overlooking gold, orange, red and otherwise stunningly beautiful aspens along a stopping point on the road. However, after stop number one, he realized proposing in 50-MPH gust winds was rather foolish. After several trips viewing scenic spots, the day was soon exhausted of sunlight. Kayla mentioned earlier in the day how she wanted to see a lake view that included pretty aspens surrounding it. With the day nearing an end, they decided to go to Long Lake. Entry into the National Forest was $15, with three lakes available to see. Trying to get his money's worth, Ryan decided he HAD to see all three. Long Lake was the third lake on the journey, and upon hiking the short distance there, Kayla exclaimed "This is the perfect lake! It's gorgeous and exactly what I wanted!" Only problem is Ryan decided earlier in the day he would not propose this day because of the obnoxious wind; he'd resort to a plan B and didn't even have the engagement ring in his pocket at the time of Kayla saying this. With tail between his legs and realizing he'd messed up the moment of a lifetime, Ryan sheepishly walked back to his car with Kayla to drive away back to Fort Collins. He realized there was no turning back and he had to propose today, so he decided to tell Kayla he needed more photos because the ones he initially took on his phone were terrible (which, thankfully for him, they were). So they turned back, hiked back to Long Lake - this time with ring in hand - and Ryan dropped to a knee and proposed on the lake shore. Kayla said yes, with a gorgeous sunset and lake providing a backdrop.
