Vesna and Court met the old-fashioned way: online. It was 2023. Court, a proud introvert newly arrived to Charlotte, joined the app in a noble attempt to make connections. Vesna, returning to the Queen City, was doing the same, with significantly more optimism (she makes friends everywhere). Perceiving a social experiment in dwindling attention spans, Court would regularly leave the app to focus on nature, books, and “real life” (granted, she hardly turned a cellphone on until her twenties). They matched, of course, and possibly more than once. But Vesna is nothing if not intentional when she knows what she wants. When Court resurfaced (again), Vesna sent an authentic and thoughtful message; one that showed depth, curiosity, and consideration that Court could not misconstrue. Their first date was primed for a glass of wine…it lasted eight hours. In one word: magic. Court was captivated by Vesna’s openness, intelligence, adventurous spirit, effortless charm, easy smile, infectious laugh — and yes, her voice (she's the talker). Vesna was drawn to Court’s steadiness, depth, quiet intensity, and the way she makes the world feel both grounded and expansive at the same time. And the rest is herstory. They fell absolutely in love with one another, and with each’s friends, family, and dogs. They built a peaceful home, traveled across states, countries, coasts, and mountains, all with a newfound joy for life. For two old (and admittedly discerning) souls, there were no red flags. Just the steady, profound realization that life — the good, the hard, and in between — was exponentially better together. Court proposed beneath the Angel Oak on Johns Island, declaring she had “waited 365 days and could not wait one more day.” The year that followed was filled with celebration (including an epic engagement moon in Croatia), gratitude, and absolute awe at the love and support surrounding them from near and far. For two people who weren’t sure marriage was in the cards prior, this union has been nothing short of transformative. Together their days are filled with laugher, love, causes, books, superb cooking, endless talks, and deep rest, simply relishing in this life united. They experience the world in so much more color than they could have ever imagined. They are the best of friends; and if you’ve spent a moment in their presence, you’ve witnessed how wildly in love they are with one another and this little life they are building.
