December 2009 "Find What You Love, Love What You Find"....is the tagline for QVC, the third-largest e-commerce company in North America (though, you may know it as "that home shopping network"). Its headquarters sit in a suburb outside Philly called West Chester, a charming university town filled with young, 20-somethings as well as established, upper middle-class families. To think that almost a decade ago, two people would not only find a career at QVC that they love, they would find each other. And, boy, do they love what they found.
January 31, 2010 Not only were they both interning for QVC (he, a graduate student and she, an undergraduate) they realized that they lived one floor down from each other in off-campus student housing at West Chester University. That led to invitations to play the video game, Beatles Rock Band, late night snacks of mozzarella sticks & tater tots and eventually, their first kiss.
March 21, 2010 Though she grew up in Scranton, PA, she always felt a connection to New York, and particularly New York City. She remembers the first time she asked him where he was from, "Long Island." Her heart skipped a beat. Then, this New Yorker asked her out to watch the Philadelphia Flyers beat his favorite hockey team, the New York Islanders. To his disappointment, she wore an orange Flyers tee. Many beers spilled on them later & gloating Philly fans yelling at him in the parking lot (yes, Philly is rough), he defended his team yelling back something about Stanley Cups. She realized that he was just as passionate about his New York as she was (though she hadn't told him yet...)
March 23, 2018 8 years later...their love was stronger than ever. They had built a loving relationship in West Chester, PA with thriving careers at QVC, and spent their summer weekends in their favorite spots: New York City and the Hamptons. In April of 2016, they adopted the love of their life, a rescue dog named Coco, and their hearts grew even fuller. He took her to Disney World for the first time that summer, too, and she never felt more like a princess. He even surprised her on her 30th birthday to look at sparkling engagement rings in the city. But folks started to wonder, "would she ever get her fairytale ending?" Then, on March 23, 2018, he suggested they should go out to their favorite "date night spot" in West Chester, a sushi place called Kooma, to celebrate a recent promotion she received at work. It was late. She was tired. She threw on some makeup & wore her new leopard faux fur coat. They ordered their favorite drinks and their fave sushi rolls. He seemed nervous. She wondered what was up. As she (annoyingly) snapped Instagram Stories of their drinks, he leaned over and put something on her plate. It was a ring box. She opened it. A few fumbling words later and him down on one knee, they were engaged. Fairytales do come true. But, the best is yet to come.
