We have a travel agent that will help with your booking every step of the way! If you overlooked her information on the website, her name is Amy Wooster and she can be contacted at amy@destinationfuntravel.com. She can answer all of your questions if they’re not included in these FAQ’s.
You can absolutely book your trip on your own if you’re familiar with international travel and the ins and outs of things. However, there are countless reasons why adding a destination travel agent to the equation will save you time and ease the process. Especially if you’ve never traveled out of the country. Just to mention a few: Free services: there is no charge to you for what sometimes feels like help sent from heaven! Expertise: most travel agents have been to the resorts and know the staff and vendors. Our agent is honest about pros and cons and will not try to get you to book the most expensive room or try to put you outside your comfort zone. Their advice can truly make a difference before, during, and after the trip. Perks: working with a travel agent can help you get the best rates, concessions, and even money back.
No extra cost for using our travel agent! They’re a great benefit for vacations that I highly recommend utilizing.
Wade and I will be staying 11/22/24-11/29/24. The ceremony will be 11/26/24 so anyone is free to come and go as they please. Some people have chosen to stay 7+ days, and some have chosen to come for 3. The decision is yours!
No, stay as as little or long as you would like! This is not considered our honeymoon so no one will be intruding at all. Like I said before, we’re just so grateful and excited for your attendance. Just let the travel agent know the dates you’d like to stay and she will get you squared away.
This is dependent on many different variables. The type of room you choose, how many people are in your party, your length of stay, etc. Some suites are as low as $200 per night but can go all the way up to $1000+ per night. Just let Amy know what you're wanting and she'll set you up! And remember, this is a completely all-inclusive resort, so once you’re there you won’t have to spend a dime on anything if you don’t want to, you’ve already paid your dues!
There are tons of different room options that you can discuss with the travel agent. Just tell her your party size, whether you're wanting to go as cheap as possible or kind of splurge, if you want ocean views, etc. She will send you different options for you to choose from.
Yes, everyones children are more than welcome to come! I did not include all children, whether they’re adult children or not, on the invitations due to some people opting to bring them along and some not. If your children are coming, please let me know and I will add them to the guest list so you are able to include them when you RSVP. Don’t forget to make sure they also have a passport!
Yes, everyone is allotted a plus one. If they were not included on the invitation, or if you’re bringing a different plus one than the person initially invited, let me know and I will add them to the guest list so you can RSVP for them.
If that friend has been invited, then absolutely! Split the cost! If you’re traveling alone for whatever reason and know others who are traveling alone as well, get in contact with each other and potentially save some money by bunking together!
Nope! There will be a small down payment required (it’s usually around $300 any time we’ve taken a trip) and then you have until 10/01/2024 to pay it off. You can make monthly payments if you’d like, or you can wait until the very last day and pay it all then. Your payment plan is totally up to you.
When you book with the travel agent, unless you tell her otherwise, she will bundle your flight + resort stay + transportation to and from the resort + insurance. Using her is basically a one stop shop. However, if you prefer to book your own flight for whatever reason, such as having a travel credit card or redeemable points, you are more than welcome to do that. Just make sure and let the travel agent know when you’re booking and confirm with her whether you need to arrange your own transportation to and from the airport. If you do have to book your own transportation to and from the airport, we always use AmStar. It’s very easy and I can help you with this if needed.
Booking should ideally be completed 6 months prior to the wedding date. However, the longer you take to book, the higher the chance the resort may fill up or prices increase. If you plan on going, we recommend getting in contact with the travel agent as soon as possible to get the ball rolling. Again, you won’t have to pay for the entire trip up front, unless you happen to wait until right before the wedding to try and book. If you have not RSVP’d or began your booking process by July 1st, 2024, we will assume you are not coming and remove you from the guest list.
No rental car needed. The travel agent will bundle your airport transfers with your travel package unless you tell her otherwise. If you don’t bundle it with her, there are many companies (we use AmStar) you can book your own airport transfers through. If you choose to do an excursion while you’re at the resort, the concierge will arrange transportation for you.
You can go to your local post office to obtain your passport. They take a few months to be delivered to you, so this is also something we recommend not putting off until the last minute. If you already have a passport, double check that it will not expire before the trip.
Complicated answer is yes and no. 80% of our guests must be staying on the property. The “property” includes not only Dreams Playa Mujeres, but also their sister resort right next door, Secrets Playa Mujeres, which is adults only. If anyone wants to book at Secrets they are more than welcome to do that! Just let the travel agent know you would like to stay there instead. Since they are sister resorts and on the same property, guests can float between the two resorts and experience their different restaurants, bars, amenities, etc. However, if anyone wants to stay off the property for whatever reason, there is a $100 per day, per person pass you must purchase and you will also have to arrange your own transportation to the resort. While I personally do not recommend staying anywhere besides Dreams or Secrets, If you decide you want to stay elsewhere, just be sure to let Wade or myself know so we can make sure we are staying within the 80% requirement.
Absolutely! We just recommend only booking excursions through the resort itself or through AmStar. The resorts usually have a department dedicated for this. I’ve also included a link to AmStar’s excursions under the “Activities & Excursions” section here on the website. Booking excursions through third parties may be cheaper, but I wouldn’t consider that a safe option while in unknown territory. We’ve booked many excursions through resorts we’ve stayed at and have felt completely safe and had some amazing experiences!
Not a dime! All-inclusive means just how it sounds, everything is included! You’ve already paid for the trip, so when you arrive feel free to enjoy all the food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), room service, etc at no additional cost. The only extra money we usually spend is on excursions or souvenirs.
That’s a personal choice. As stated previously, it’s all-inclusive so it’s not 100% necessary to bring cash. However, we usually bring around $150 in $5’s and $1’s for a little extra tipping with meals, drinks, and our servers on the beach. Do not feel obligated to do this as gratuity has already been included in your cost of the trip, this is just our personal preference because the service is usually phenomenal.
There is a dress code for certain restaurants at the resort. I am making a welcome guide for attending guests that will be sent out a month or so before the wedding that will include this information. If you’d like to know sooner, I believe the dress codes are on the resort website. I will also be including the dress code for the ceremony in the welcome guide, but it will just be beach formal, nothing too fancy.
Your attendance is the greatest gift you could have given us, and we expect nothing from any of our guests - especially since this is an international wedding. However, if you insist, we appreciate contributions to our honeymoon fund!
Yes, at some point we plan on having a reception at home so we can have time with those who were unable to attend. We completely understand the many reasons of not being able to come to Mexico, so we want to make sure we get our time in with those who stayed behind. I will send out more information when we set a date for this.
