It all goes back to 2012 in Columbia, South Carolina: our freshman year of college at band camp. Our values lined up naturally, and whenever I needed something, he had me—and vice versa. We’ve literally been family ever since. For years, we’ve lived together, struggled together, shined together, walked together, rode and drove together. Through all of life’s highs and lows, he’s been one of the best friends I’ve ever had. From band camp to real life, we’ve been locked in ever since. They say blood makes you family but with us, blood couldn’t make us any closer.

I met Courtney in grad school and immediately knew we’d be friends when I saw her unfiltered facial expressions and heard her unapologetic honesty. We then quickly bonded over astrology, memes, and all the therapy things. I admire the way she shows up so fully for the people she loves. The summer before middle school started, I was outside playing while Terryck and his family were moving into our apartment complex. I remember him going to ask his parents if he could come outside to play with my cousin and I. I had no idea I just gained a lifelong friend. We found out years later that we were born in the same hospital 8 days apart, and lived on the same military base when we were babies: it's like it was meant for us to be friends. Through everything that life has thrown at me, Terryck has had my back through it all. Twenty years have gone by and he has solidified himself as my brother. It's a surreal feeling to watch my childhood friend get married and I am honored to be able to share this experience with him.
