Travel Note
There are TWO airports near MILAN that you can choose to fly into: **MALPENSA (MXP): ~1H.30 MINUTE DRIVE TO VARENNA (This is Milans major international airport and likely the best option!!) LINATE (LIN): ~1H.15 MINUTE DRIVE TO VARENNA TIP #1: Don't forget your passport! TIP #2: Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months AFTER scheduled travel!
Travel Note
Getting to Varenna from Milan Malpensa Airport 🚆 From Malpensa Airport to Milano Centrale Train Station: Take the Malpensa Express train from the airport to Milano Centrale (Milan’s main train station). Trains run every 20–30 minutes and the ride takes about 50 minutes. Buy tickets at the machines or online (look for "Malpensa Express"). From Milano Centrale to Varenna: From Milano Centrale, take a regional train to Varenna-Esino. The ride is about 1 hour and offers gorgeous views of Lake Como! Tickets are inexpensive (around €7) and can be bought at the station or online via Trenitalia or Trainline. Arrival in Varenna: Once you arrive at Varenna-Esino, the town center and lakefront hotels are a 10–15 minute walk downhill from the station. Taxis are limited, so walking is often the easiest option but we can also try to coordinate Taxi pickup times if you want to coordinate arriving with other guests! From Milan Malpensa or Linate Airports you can also: Private Transfer:? Based in VARENNA/nearby: taxi.varenna@tiscali.it taxi.andrea.varenna@gmail.com nccatuttogas@gmail.com Rent a car: This is best if you’re staying near us in Varenna and don't want to take the train or a private transfer—otherwise make sure you have access to drive to your accommodations. I do not recommend staying in Bellagio which is only accessible via ferry or private boat transfer! TIP: **Europe has limited quantity of automatic cars!** LIMITED TAXIS There are taxis available at the airport once you land in Italy, however these can be expensive (€150/€180). We recommend arranging for transportation in advance!! **Taxis are not as prevalent around the lake as you may be used to at home can be very expensive once you're in Como!** **Ubers are not available!** Once in Como, taxi companies we can recommend: Lario Driver | www.lariodriver.com | info@lariodriver.com | + 39-333-441-2638 Lake Como Transfers | www.lakecomotransfers.com | lakecomotransfer@gmail.com | +39-328-131-9806
