How We Met

Love At First Swipe- Courtney's POV

We met on Hinge. It's "the app designed to be deleted" and we did in fact delete it. I, Courtney, had been single for five years before attempting the online dating thing. The day after I downloaded Hinge, I found his profile. I had no idea what a boilermaker was or what they did (I had to ask him to explain it about 4 times), but I knew he was handsome, hardworking, Christian, loved animals, and he played guitar. I probably listened to him play Wonderwall on his guitar about 30 times. I remember my roommate looking over at me that night and saying, "Would you like his profile already?" So I swiped on him and then couldn't watch him play anymore... until the next morning. He had also found my profile and swiped on me and he messaged me first thing the next morning (at like 4am). We immediately clicked and began to intentionally get to know one another. It was so easy with him. He asked me for my number and we went on our first date on February 3rd of this year. It was a perfect and hilarious night! It was the strangest thing to feel like you know someone you've never really met. Anyway, we met, things were great, then he left for work in Utah & Illinois for about 2 months. We Face-Timed almost every day when he was gone and we wrote letters to one another. I still had my guard up that he could be pretending to be someone he's not, but I recognized so many things in him that I had prayed for over the last 6 years and couldn't wait for him to come back home! He also expressed feeling like God had sent me to him at just the right time. When he came back, we hung out every day for 3 weeks. We met families and friends of one another and about a week in, I let him know it was time to become official and that I was ready! March 28th he pulled up to my house with a huge smile across his face and asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes, of course. When he left, mid April, we both cried and were not looking forward to the days (possibly 2-3 months) ahead. He got a layoff less than a month later and he came home for good. He found a local job, started serving in our church, and now we get to see each other daily. Two months into home-life, he took me back to where we went on our 2nd date and asked me to marry him. I said yes, once again! We are so extremely thankful for the overwhelming support of our families and friends. We can't wait to say "I do" at the altar and celebrate with everyone!

For all the days along the way
