For those of you that have known us both for a long time, you know that our friendship started way back in 2009. We attended the same church for years, were involved in the same youth group, had a shared love of music, but always maintained the “just friends” status. We stayed in contact after Courtney started college and would catch up over coffee every 6 months or so, even when our lives began moving in different directions. Fastforward to 2019, the regular “just friends” coffee turned into dinner, which got us on our first date on January 26, and the rest is history!
Our proposal took place at Gulley Park in Fayetteville, AR, and it had to be sneaky because we all know Courtney would have figured out the surprise with even the slightest hint. We had an afternoon planned to go to the park on a weekend in March to take our dogs, Mitty and Lola, to run and get some exercise. Little did she know though, I would also be proposing. We had just celebrated our 1 year and had been talking about getting engaged for a while, so hiding the secret plans was a challenge. Our best friends were hiding in the bushes after she said yes and were able to snap a few shots of the moment. She was truly surprised, and we spent the rest of the evening sipping champagne and celebrating with close family and friends. It was the best and sweetest day 💕
