By now, we had hoped to be beyond COVID-19 and happily counting down the days until we become husband and wife. Unfortunately, this pandemic continues to interfere with normal life and has finally forced us to make very difficult decisions in regards to our wedding. We’re still getting married on 10/10/2020, but we’ve had to make the following changes to our plans: First and most upsetting of all—we won’t be able to celebrate this memorable day in the presence of all our invited family and friends. NC restrictions, from both the Governor and our venue, have made it impossible for us to hold our ceremony and reception at Vista Creek. We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time, though, so we’ve decided to arrange a small, intimate ceremony in Nags Head instead. Our parents, grandparents, and bridal party will be with us as we exchange vows and become Mr. and Mrs. Lastly, we’re planning a big celebration party for a later date, which will take place in Virginia as soon as the Coronavirus situation allows. Invitations will go out to all of our family and friends once we’ve set an official date, and we sincerely hope you’ll be able to join us as we celebrate the start of our new life together. As you can imagine, these decisions and changes have not been easy for us. We have waited for this day for nearly two years and would rather remember it as a grand celebration in the presence of those who mean the most to us, but we recognize and accept the need to choose a different path. We are deeply grateful to each of you for the support and love you have shown us, especially during these challenging, emotional times. We are so blessed to have you in our lives, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you in the near future.
Josh and Courtney knew each other through mutual friends prior to them actually connecting and forming a relationship. In early 2013, Josh got the courage to reach out to Courtney via Instagram and began "liking" many of her photos, which then lead to conversations. It wasn't long after chatting that they began hanging out and getting to know each other better. Just a couple short months later, Josh asked Courtney to be his girlfriend. Ever since then, their love has grown stronger each day. Courtney was introduced to Bentley, Josh's son, when he was just 17 months old, and they quickly became best buds. Their bond has been special from day one. He refers to her as "Court", the best step-Mom ever.
Josh got down on one knee on September 28, 2018 at one of their favorite spots, Yorktown Beach. Courtney knew it was coming at some point, but was caught by surprise at that moment. They were enjoying their ice cream from their favorite ice cream joint, Ben & Jerry's. She immediately said "YES" and soon began planning their special day.
