Our wedding ceremony will be filled with laughter, happy tears, and kind words from those important to us. We want everyone to experience these feelings with us, and do not want distractions to prevent anyone from enjoying the ceremony. That being said, we are asking that everyone in attendance at our wedding SILENCE OR TURN OFF ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND KEEP THEM PUT AWAY for the entirety of the ceremony. We are paying a professional photography and videography team to capture our wonderful moments throughout the experience, so we ask that you allow them to do their jobs so everyone can enjoy our celebration in the moment with us. When it comes to the photos and video footage we will get that day, we want to see your lovely faces more than you holding up your phones. Thank you for understanding.
Like most people our age or younger, we had brushes with meeting people online with mixed results. After some bad dates, Jon messaged Courtney because a) she had ACTUALLY filled out her dating profile, and b) she seemed like she had a good head on her shoulders. Two weeks later, Courtney noticed that she had a message that asked her an intellectual question. Jon and Courtney started talking and haven't stopped since. Things became official after a second wonderful date at a comedy club, and the bride and groom decided to take things further: a committed relationship! Just over four years later, Jon and Courtney have been through ups and downs, hard lefts and sharp rights, and many great times speckled throughout, but it all has made their journey that much more incredible.
After a fun-filled trip to Ireland and Scotland, Courtney and Jon would soon be embarking on their journey to Ohio to begin Courtney's residency program as a Family Medicine physician. Jon had covertly obtained an engagement ring (he'll never tell how) and felt the time was right to take things to the next big step: an engagement. Jon suggested a night out at Disneyland, which was a typical activity the two shared thanks to the then-available SoCal Disney Annual Passes. Courtney was blissfully unaware of what would later transpire that night. The surprise was almost spoiled at the security checkpoint into the Disneyland Resort due to bag checks. Jon was able to persuade the security officer to subtly acknowledge the existence of the ring without drawing Courtney's attention--crisis averted! Courtney and Jon went on to have a wonderful evening at Disneyland as they so often did in the past, until Jon began to funnel Courtney towards the walkways between the Disney hotels on the property. The original plan was to make it to the gazebo that overlooks the Rose Garden area (coincidently where most Disney weddings are held), but some teenagers forced plan B: walking along the lit walkways adjacent to the Rose Garden. Once they were alone, Jon was certainly nervous, though to this day, Courtney will say Jon had no reason to be. Once in position, Jon dropped to his knee and presented Courtney with the ring he had covertly obtained, carried through security, and most of the evening without Courtney being any the wiser. After that all-important question, Courtney answered an immediate "YES!" and let tears run down her face as she slid her shiny new engagement ring on her finger.
As some of you may know, the lives of Courtney & Jon have been a whirlwind within the past year, and that’s not even counting the chaos of COVID-19. Fingers crossed that the wedding can be as mask-free as possible in accordance with CA guidelines in July! Finishing School and Starting New Careers Both Courtney and Jon have been pursuing new careers in their respective fields of family medicine and education for some time now, respectfully. This year’s spring and summer not only bring a new life together for Courtney and Jon, but also a conclusion to their long educational journeys in pursuit of new careers. Come Fall 2021, Courtney will begin her new career as a Family Medicine attending physician, and Jon will pursue teaching English Language Arts in high school. A New Home Shortly after obtaining a job placement with a medical group in Cincinnati, Courtney and Jon decided that they would build a house in the area. After two years of hunting for the perfect home style and builder, Courtney and Jon settled on their home design with M/I Homes. The couple has visited the building site many times to chronicle the progress of the home, seeing their dream home come more alive with each visit. The house is set to be completed in April 2021 in time for a projected May 2021 closing. Honeymooning in Orlando Since their original plans of going to Berlin and Prague were dashed with the devastation of COVID-19 in Europe, Courtney and Jon have opted to indulge in a favorite pastime of theirs and make it the focus of their honeymoon: theme parks. In lieu of transatlantic travel, Courtney and Jon will travel to Orlando to enjoy the Walt Disney World resort and Universal Studios resort. Exploring a New Home City Courtney and Jon first considered Cincinnati after seeing its beautiful downtown area, lively culture, and penchant for providing fun through its many activities and proximity to King’s Island, a major theme park complete with roller coasters and seasonal festivals.
